What if I withdraw the money
for personal expenses?

  • A personal expense is any expense other than what is classified
    as a “Qualified Medical Expense”.

    • If the distribution from your HSA is for a personal expense,
you are required to report that amount as income when you
      file your taxes.

    • You may also be subject to an additional excise tax penalty
of 10% unless you are age 65.

Note: There are other conditions when the 10% excise tax would
not apply, for a comprehensive list go to www.Arkansashsa.com
